WALKING IN THE EAST MIDLANDS

The East Midlands area of the UK is very varied in its terrain. From the flat expanses of Lincolnshire, through the woodlands of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood, to the wildness and hilliness of the Derbyshire Peak District, there is something for everyone.
This website attemps to bring together the varied challenge walks and group walks put on by the LDWA in and around the East Midlands, together with other non-LDWA challenge walks.

WHAT IS A CHALLENGE WALK

Challenge walks are usually about 26 miles, the challenge being to finish the walk within a given time, allowing the slowest walker to travel at about 2½ mph. Runners are allowed on some walks. Certificates, badges, checkpoints and light refreshments are also often provided upon payment of the entry fee and successful completion of the walk.
